Welcome to Southeast Elementary!

On behalf of nearly 750 students and 75 staff members at Southeast Elementary, I welcome you to our school website. 

I'm excited to begin my third year as principal of Southeast Elementary.  My journey in education began in 1994 when I earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University.  I began my teaching career in the Des Moines Public Schools teaching second grade.  In an effort to get closer to family, we moved to southern Iowa where I taught second and fifth grade for Seymour CSD.  In 2002 I earned my M.S. Degree in Educational Leadership from DrakeUniversity and became the K-8 Principal at Lynnville-Sully CSD.  In 2006, I earned my Ed.S. Degree in Educational Leadership from Drake.  I have recently completed my Ed.D. Degree in Education- once again as a Bulldog!  I have always believed in lifelong learning and continue to challenge myself in my own learning.

At Southeast Elementary you will find a school culture that encourages and fosters healthy relationships between all stakeholders.  We are fortunate to have a quality, professional staff working tirelessly to meet the needs of all our students.  There is tremendous teaching and learning occuring on a daily basis and I marvel at the commitment our teachers have made to the students we serve.   

There are many opportunities for families to become involved in our school.  Do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, or any teacher for that matter, to learn about opportunities for participating in this journey with us.
